CZECH PHOTO, o.p.s., and the CAPITAL CITY OF PRAGUE in cooperation with the Union of Czech Photographers invite professional and amateur photographers to participate in the third year of the biannual photographic competition VILEM HECKEL PEAKS, which takes place under the auspices of the Mayor of the Capital City of Prague.
The competition, named after the eminent Czech photographer and mountaineer Vilem Heckel who was killed tragically together with the entire Czechoslovak mountaineering expedition in Peru on the 31st May 1970 by an avalanche on Huascaran Mountain, follows on the popular competition founded on the day of the first anniversary of Heckel’s death by his fans and friends.
The aim of the competition is to promote and support active contact of man with nature, knowledge of nature and it’s conservation – fully in tune with Vilem Heckel’s life’s objective.
